Massachusetts Teacher STEM Fair

McAuliffe Center @ FSU Homecoming

Alumni, family and friends are invited to the Christa McAuliffe Center between 1pm and 3pm on Saturday, Oct. 18, to interact with the Center's dynamic offerings, including planetarium programs across multiple disciplines, tours of the Challenger Learning Center with simulation of space missions, and virtual reality experiences in the Center's new VR CAVE Room!

Coding and Art with Root Robots

with Needham Free Public Library

This robotics event uses Root Robots for children ages 6 and up. Children will learn how to use block code to make the robot perform different tasks, such as light up, change colors, move and draw. Root robots magnetically cling to a whiteboard and can lift and lower a marker. Each child will have an opportunity to program the robot to draw a picture of their own creation on a white board. This is a public event.

Everyday Engineering: Towering Towers

Fiero Code, Coding Club

Rockets and Space Science Week

with New England Sci-Tech

Dates: Wednesday, October 22; Thursday, October 23; Wednesday, October 29; Thursday, October 30
Time:
6:00pm to 7:30pm

New England Sci-Tech, Natick, MA

Celebrate Moon and Mars observation and exploration! We encourage people to learn more about STEM in space science, to share Moon or Mars-inspired stories and artwork, and to continue observing the sky and the world around us.

This program is for children in grades 1-6 with an accompanying parent. Children will build and launch an air-powered paper rocket, hold a rock from the Moon, and see a Space Science 3D Show using 3D glasses. Children can bring homemade space artwork to show and/or wear space-themed shirts or costumes. There will be take-home goodie bags for all participating children.

Science Fair Info Session for Teachers

The Intro to Science Fair sessions are designed specifically for classroom teachers and school administrators to learn more about opportunities and resources to support Science Fair programs in Massachusetts schools. We will cover materials related to instruction as well as a tutorial for safety and paperwork systems. This is appropriate for both new and returning science fair teachers, or those curious about implementing a program in future years.

Spooky Skies Planetarium Program

Use telescopes to observe the Moon and Saturn! 🪐 McAuliffe Center staff are available to answer your questions about telescopes and our Universe. Participants of all ages are welcome!

Important Information: This event is weather-dependent. In case of inclement weather or conditions inconducive for observing, this event will be cancelled.

Grand Opening McAuliffe Simulation Lab
Featuring new technology for high-resolution visualizations and VR CAVE capabilities. Providing cradle-to-career simulated and immersive learning experiences for students and adults alike.

Clean Energy STEM Fair
Event hosted by MetroWest STEM Education Network in partnership with Milford High School. Milford High School is part of the first cohort of schools to be designated as a Innovation Career Pathways school for clean energy.

Engineering a Better Bandage with Auburn Middle School Young Engineers Club
Students will participate in an engineering challenge - Engineering Bandages. Students will learn how to use the Engineering Design Process as they imagine, create, and test bandages to protect a model cut.
