 SUMMER 2026 INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
PERSPECTIVES OF EARTH TEAM MENTORSHIP & INTERNSHIP

2026 PROJECT - VISION

The 2026 PETM summer interns worked diligently for five-weeks on a design study envisioning a new 100% clean energy library in the heart of Framingham State University (FSU), connecting the campus as well as the City of Framingham community.

This project was selected as a way to contribute to FSU efforts "to strengthen and reinforce the “heart” of the campus ... a student hub, adjacent to the McCarthy Student Center and the future site of a new right-sized library learning commons and academic hub” which has been detailed in the FSU Campus Master Plan released in November 2025.

Through this project, PETM interns contribute a thoughtful design that serves as a model for sustainable development at FSU and throughout MetroWest. The PETM design for the FSU Library aims to maximize energy saving, maximize clean energy production and maximize efficient and clean heating and cooling by integrating and deploying passive building design strategies and new photovoltaic systems with geothermal exchange systems and geothermal networks.
